Embedded World 2025

In March 2025 I spent a 2 days at Embedded World in Nuremberg to see the newest embedded tools. Development boards everywhere, RISC-V on every corner, AI-on-the-edge demos, and more evaluation kits than any human could ever solder headers onto.
What stuck with me most was how accessible cellular IoT has become. LTE-M and NB-IoT modules that sip power, boards with the modem and GNSS already integrated, and tooling that finally feels friendly for small projects. No gateways, no Wi-Fi dependency - just a SIM card and a board that phones home from anywhere.
That planted the seed for a project I had been thinking about for a while: keeping an eye on our camper while it sits in storage or stands on a campsite abroad. Where is it, how warm is it inside, how is the battery doing?
I came home with a bag full of leaflets and allot more project on the todo list.
